TheirWorld

Today, 260 million children aren't able to go to primary or secondary school - and 75 million have their education interrupted by conflicts and emergencies.

The model of Theirworld is to unlock big change for the next generation, by setting agendas, forging powerful partnerships, campaigning, innovating and delivering real impact.

Theirworld has been supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery since 2015. This support has enabled the charity to develop pioneering projects informed by cutting-edge research and to take those projects to scale. To date, this support has allowed Theirworld to:
  • initiate the ground-breaking idea of the double-shift system in Lebanese schools, helping to provide education to more than 300,000 vulnerable and Syrian refugee children.
  • prepare 1,360 girls and young women in six countries with coding and entrepreneurship skills.
equip 1,055 teachers and counsellors with trauma-informed teaching practices, benefiting 4,955 refugee children.
  • successfully advocate for increased global funding for education, leading to the creation of new multi-million pound international funds for education, especially for children caught up in conflict and emergency situations.

Placing young people at the forefront of its campaigning, Theirworld has supported more than 1,000 Global Youth Ambassadors in 89 countries who campaign for the removal of the barriers preventing the young from reaching their potential.

Alinda, aged eight, Theirworld Code Club beneficiary, said, "I didn't know how to use a computer but thanks to the Code Clubs I have now learnt. I enjoyed all the classes but in particular I liked Scratch, it has beautiful things that uplifted my creativity."
